Salsa is now a global phenomenon. Originally primarily Cuban, itself a fusion of Spanish guitar and Afro-Cuban percussion, also incorporating North American music styles such as jazz. Salsa simply means ‘sauce’ in Spanish, the dance carries connotations of Latin spice.

If you have tried your hand before or fancy learning to dance Salsa while you are in Spain and closer to its source, you can now participate in an hour of beginners salsa classes, learning the rhythms and steps from the professionals. Admission is free and classes take place every Monday throughout June at Casino Barcelona on Calle Marina 21, 08005 Barcelona .
