London. A Taste of Spain arrives in London’s regent street for the sixth year running. On the back of Barcelona’s Uefa victory over Manchester United it should interest a number of tourists in visiting Spain and especially Barcelona.
For the fetival this year Regent Street was closed to make way for food stalls, which included a giant Paella to feed 1,000 people, attracting major queues of up to an hour.
As well as cuisine the World Cup and Uefa were stars of the festival. Fans queued for over an hour to take a photo of themsleves next to the cups as a souvenir.
The Spanish Secretary of State for Tourism, Joan Mesquida, has stated that A Taste of Spain is the most important promotional event to be held outside Spain – the UK is the primary source of tourists for Spain, and 13 million of the 53 million visitors Spain receives annually are British.
